Sa Calobra road Ma-2141
Back to all places
Nestled within the breathtaking Tramuntana mountain range of Mallorca, the Sa Calobra road, officially known as Ma-2141, offers a journey that is as thrilling as it is scenic.
Constructed in 1932 by Italian engineer Antonio Parietti, this masterpiece of road engineering features a series of serpentine twists and hairpin bends. Its most iconic section, the "Nus de sa Corbata" or "Tie Knot," is a deftly designed loop that leaves a lasting impression on all who traverse its path.
The road descends over 800 meters to the secluded cove of Sa Calobra, a charming village which historically served as a hiding place for pirates during the 17th century. Approaching the destination, travelers are greeted by the staggering views of the Mediterranean Sea, visible through the rugged cliff backdrop.
Sa Calobra is also the gateway to the Torrent de Pareis, a dramatic gorge and one of Mallorca’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Recognized as a cultural landscape by UNESCO, this area invites both adventurers and sightseers alike, ensuring an unforgettable experience entrenched in both natural beauty and historical intrigue.
