Jardí Botànic de Sóller
Back to all places
Nestled in the enchanting landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its outstanding natural beauty, this distinguished botanical garden offers visitors a window into the unique and diverse flora of the Balearic Islands, as well as collections from other Mediterranean regions.
Established in 1985, the garden operates as both a center for conservation and education, promoting the preservation of endangered plant species. The history of the area itself is steeped in agricultural tradition, with terraced hillsides and ancient olive groves providing a lush backdrop. The garden officially opened to the public in 1992 and has since been dedicated to showcasing the horticultural wealth of the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, and Balearic archipelago. Visitors here can explore meticulously curated exhibits that include rare palms, a diverse selection of cacti, and an intriguing array of native plants that thrive in the island’s microclimates. The historic Sóller Tram, first inaugurated in 1913, can often be seen clattering nearby, adding a sense of timeless charm to the surroundings.
Whether you’re a devoted botanist or a history enthusiast, this haven of biodiversity offers a serene retreat to discover and admire botanical heritage.
