Inca

Inca is a historic town located in the heart of the Balearic island of Mallorca, within the Balearic Islands of Spain. It is known for its rich cultural heritage and significant contributions to Majorcan history.

The town’s origins can be traced back to Roman times, with archaeological evidence suggesting it was an important settlement even before the Roman domination. Inca is renowned for its traditional leather industry, which has been a cornerstone of its economy since the 13th century, making it a major player in Mallorca’s commercial development.

The charming town features a myriad of historic buildings and landmarks, including several centuries-old churches that showcase the blend of Gothic and Baroque architectural styles. The parish church of Santa Maria la Major, dating back to the 13th century and rebuilt in the 18th century, stands as a testament to Inca’s enduring spiritual and architectural vitality.

Additionally, Inca is famous for its weekly market, one of the largest and most vibrant on the island, attracting locals and tourists alike.

The town’s cultural events, such as the Dijous Bo fair, a traditional agricultural and commercial fair held since the 14th century, offer a glimpse into its deep-rooted traditions and serve as a celebration of local craftsmanship, gastronomy, and heritage.
