Església de Sant Bartomeu de Sóller

Perched magnificently in the Plaça de sa Constitució in Sóller, the Església de Sant Bartomeu stands as a testament to centuries of regional history and religious devotion.

Originally constructed in 1236, this church has undergone numerous transformations, with significant architectural renovations in the 17th century. Its current façade, a remarkable example of modernist architecture, was designed by the renowned architect Joan Rubió i Bellver, a disciple of Antoni Gaudí, and was completed in 1904. The church’s interior captures the evolution of various artistic styles, featuring intricate Baroque altarpieces and Gothic elements. Its rosette windows add a captivating touch of stained glass artwork, while the clock tower, peeking over the quaint Sóller skyline, heralds the passage of time with both grace and grandeur.

The church is not only a place of worship but also a custodian of cultural heritage, fostering a connection between past and present in the heart of the Balearic Islands.

With its rich history intertwined with local traditions, Sant Bartomeu de Sóller invites visitors to delve into a narrative that spans centuries, making it a centerpiece of historical exploration in this vibrant community.
